Sumner Arts Commission is a group of dedicated volunteers whose mission is to improve citizens’ quality of life through art experiences and contribute to the aesthetic environment of the City.
Sumner Arts Commissioners
The Arts Commission advises the City on arts and culture and are involved with selecting public art, which is displayed throughout the City, including the Sumner entrance sign, the artwork over the doors of City Hall, and the artwork for Rainier View Park’s mosaic entry plaza.
The Arts Commission is also instrumental in bringing an Arts Center to the new Sumner YMCA as well as popular programs, including Music Off Main concert series, Write in the Valley authors’ event, the rotating display of local artists’ work in City Hall and the Sumner Art Walking Guide (pdf). Even Pierce County READS started as Sumner READS with the Sumner Arts Commission.
