We’ve reopened 24th Street! But, we also have to finish the intersection at 24th & 136th, which means you won’t be able to make all of the regular turns in the intersection. Motorists should still expect delays, but at least the detour route will no longer be the main access point to 142nd Avenue! Continue to consider alternate routes as we move forward with construction. Lane restrictions and shifts will continue for the next few months, but we do not expect any more full roadway closures for this project! Hooray!

What We’re Doing

This spring and summer, we will be repaving 142nd/24th Street thanks to a $4.7 million grant from the National Highway Freight Program. This road work begins April 23, bringing no full closures but lane closures that will affect traffic. Starting at the Tacoma Avenue bridge and running north, 142nd will be repaved with asphalt. From the curve onto 24th Street, 24th Street will also be repaved but the area around the interchange will be repaved with more durable concrete.
