It’s official; there’s still no way to safely hold events like Street of Treats and Santa Parade in 2020. We are determined to bring back events as soon as we can, but it won’t be this year.

For your own celebrations, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has good online guides to help you assess how to celebrate various holidays like Halloween, Dia de los Muertos and Thanksgiving to minimize your risk. Take a look at your options, outlined by the CDC.

In addition, a few other holiday requests from Sumner:

  • Please respect others’ wishes, even if you disagree. If homes do not wish to participate in Trick-or-Treating, for example, please do not ring their bell anyway.
  • Please consider decorating more. Walking around Sumner remains a popular activity. Think about upping your decorations game for the holidays coming up to add a bit of extra cheer (or scare)!
  • Visiting a farm with precautions in place is an alternative for festive fun. Travel Tacoma outlines options around Sumner and the region.
