NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Sumner Environmental Official has received a SEPA Checklist and application for the project described below.

Project Name: Stewart Rd Improvements and Stewart Rd Bridge Replacement

Location: Stewart Rd SE/8th St E from Valentine Ave SE to 140th Ave Ct E spanning the City of Sumner and City of Pacific. Township 20 North, Range 4 East, Section 1.

Description of Proposal: The work will be completed in two phases. 

Stewart Rd Improvements is scheduled to begin 2021 and include work at Stewart Rd SE from Valentine Ave SE to the easterly edge of Butte Avenue SE.  Work will include widening the existing road from 2 lanes to 4-5 lanes, construction of curb, gutter, sidewalks, planter strips, illumination, signalization and a center median.  The project will include driveway improvements on adjacent properties along Butte Ave SE north of the intersection.  

Stewart Rd Bridge Replacement is scheduled to begin in 2023 and will occur from the easterly edge of Butte Avenue SE to 140th St Ct E.  Work will include replacement of the existing 2 lane concrete tee beam bridge across the White River.  The existing bridge will be replaced with a 4-lane standard pre-cast concrete girder bridge with a shared use path and a sidewalk.

Zoning: Work primarily takes place in ROW with adjacent land in Sumner zoned M-1 Light Industrial (M-1) and adjacent land in Pacific zoned Light Industrial.
