Notice Of Decision

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Sumner SEPA Official has issued a MDNS threshold determination for Phase II of the Stewart Road improvement and bridge replacement project, Phase I included road improvements beginning at Valintine Ave and ending at the eastern edge of Butte Ave, Phase II of the project includes replacing the existing two-lane Stewart Rd bridge with a new four lane bridge including a shared use path on the north side of roadway. Additional details can be found below and with the project documents.

The public has the right to review the contents of the official file for the proposal, provide written comments, participate in the public hearings/meetings, and request a copy of the final decision.

Location: Stewart Rd SE/8th St E from Butte Ave to 140th Ave Ct E spanning the City of Sumner, Pacific and unincorporated Pierce County, WA within Section 1 of Township 20N and Range 04E at approximately river mile 4.9 of the White River.

Description of Proposal: Proposal for Phase II of the Stewart Rd improvement and bridge replacement, consisting of the replacement of the existing two-lane bridge with a new four lane bridge with a shared use path on the north side of roadway.  Adjacent intersections at Butte Ave and 140th Street Ct E will be modified to accommodate the new roadway grade and lane configuration.  New bridge work will include removal of existing bridge, temporary work platforms, instillation of drilled shafts, girder placement, bridge deck construction, abutment and pier cap construction, paving and marking.   In addition to the bridge work, the project will also include illumination, utility relocation, planting and revegetation, signage and walls. Phase I of this project is underway west of Butte Ave and will tie into Phase II.
