Sumner residents last night may have heard a helicopter over the city around midnight. At 2250 on Wednesday evening, February 11, a Sumner police officer initiated a traffic stop on Main Street. The driver fled and eventually stopped on Valley Avenue E before the driver, a 22-year-old male, continued to flee on foot. The suspect is well known to Sumner Police, who knew he had a felony warrant. Puyallup police and Guardian One, the King County helicopter, assisted, and the suspect was found hiding in a play structure approximately a half mile from the traffic stop. The suspect was booked into the Pierce County Jail on eluding and driving while license suspended.
