It’s an interchange that serves many from Sumner and Puyallup, so the groundbreaking to add two new lanes plus pedestrian crossings is a big deal to the South Sound region. Thank you to all our partners and participants.
This was a long day coming with lots of partners making it happen. State and County support were key. Deputy Hayden here with Senator Zeiger, County Council Chair Richardson & Rep. Gildon Regional funding pushed this project forward. Thank you Transportation Improvement Board, Freight Mobility, Puget Sound Regional Council and Sound Transit. City of Sumner took the lead, thanks to leadership Deputy Mayor Kathy Hayden, Councilmembers Curt Brown, Barbara Bitetto and Earle Stuard. Nearly every City department helped make this happen. Here, Community Development Director Ryan Windish, Public Works Director Mike Dahlem, Chief Brad Moericke and Interim City Administrator Jason Wilson.
