Notice is hereby given that the City of Sumner PLANNING COMMISSION WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING on an update to Sumner Municipal Code as described below. Written comments are due by October 3rd, 2024 by 5:00 pm to scottw@sumnerwa.gov or comment at the public hearing. The public has the right to review the contents of the official file for the proposal, provide written comments, participate in the public hearings/meetings, and request a copy of the final decision.
Proposal Name: Zoning Code Text Amendment (CTA-2024-0004) Permit Review and Timelines
Proposal Description: The State House of Representatives passed bills 5290 and 1293 related to land use permit timelines and processes. These bills require Cities to review their current land use codes and make necessary changes for compliance with the State.
The proposed amendments to Sumner Municipal Code Title 18.56 and 18.04 Zoning Code will update regulations related to land use permit timelines and processes. These changes include:
• Updates to the time requirements for each type of land use permit
• Limiting Design Commission review to one required meeting for any project
• Format changes to Sumners land use code to include flow charts in permit type descriptions
• Creates definitions for site plan and interior alterations
• Creates a consolidated permit review option
• Removes pre-application requirements
• Clarifies what constitutes a complete application
• Outlines permit resubmission and non responsive applications
• Sets up a corrections review meeting process
