The police department not only wants to catch criminals but also build solid cases so that the prosecutors, judges and juries have plenty of facts and evidence in court. Sumner Police has two detectives who analyze crime scenes, collect evidence, and interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.
Many hours of thorough report writing and inclusive preparation are essential for the judicious resolution of a case. It is the detective who starts at the crime scene and follows the case through to court disposition.
You can help! If you think you saw or know something that would help an investigation, you can leave a message on the detectives’ Tip Line at 253-299-5678.
