GENERAL FUND

Main Functions

Partnerships: Effective emergency management requires the coordination between regional governments, including the East Pierce Interlocal Coalition for Emergency Management (EPIC), the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District, and Pierce County as well as non-governmental organizations, including Red Cross, churches and the Gordon Family YMCA.

Preparation: During most emergencies, minutes count. For that reason, the City invests in keeping its Emergency Management Plan up-to-date as well as training and exercises so that staff plan out their responses in advance and can act as swiftly as possible during real emergencies.

Response: From floods to major fires, Sumner has unfortunately had to respond to emergencies with personnel and efforts to keep everyone safe, minimize damage and restore infrastructure as quickly as possible.
