1. Print and fill out a City Complaint Form from the Public Records & Forms page (link). Forms are also available at City Hall.
2. Sign and date form.
3. Mail or deliver to City Hall at 1104 Maple Street, Sumner, WA 98390.
About Reporting an Issue
- Please provide complete and accurate information in your report.
- City of Sumner may be required to release your name and/or information submitted in this complaint pursuant to Public Disclosure (RCW 42.56) and/or pursuant to court order.
- If you believe the disclosure would endanger your life, physical safety or property, information revealing the identity of persons who are witnesses to crimes or who file complaints with investigative agencies can be withheld from disclosure pursuant to RCW 42.56.240.
- If you are worried about keeping your identity confidential you will be given that option to make that request when making your report. If that is the case please be careful when describing the issue so you don’t accidentally identify yourself.
- If you have any photographs of the issue please include them with your report.
- During this process you’ll be asked to select the type of issue you are reporting. Don’t worry if you don’t find an exact match or if it seems like more than one option applies, go ahead and select whatever best matches and we’ll make any adjustments that are needed.
What happens next after you have filed a code violation:
Once the City receives the complaint, it will be routed to the appropriate department, and you will be contacted by a city staff member. If your complaint regards an emergency situation, one that appears to be an immediate threat to public health and safety, it will be investigated immediately.

- Tall weeds/grasses on private property
- Building without a permit
- Public nuisance violation
