Over the past week our shelter has experienced a huge influx of unclaimed stray dogs, which has put our dog kennels at full capacity. We urgently need dogs to be adopted from our shelter as soon as possible; if you are thinking about adopting a dog, please visit our shelter when we open on Tuesday morning to meet our pups and give them a chance of finding a loving home.
Our shelter is located near the South Hill Mall in Puyallup, on 39th Avenue between the Lowes hardware store and the Pierce College campus. If you are interested in adopting any of these dogs please email us at pets@sumnerwa.gov so our team can answer any questions about their size, breed, personality, etc.
We have issued a boil water notice for residences on 63rd St Ct E, east of Parker Road.
A contractor hit our water line. Although our Public Operations department has repaired and flushed the line to restore service, we need residents to boil water until the sample is returned from the lab, likely tomorrow. If you are affected, watch your front door for further updates from Public Operations (a door hanger). This is required, standard procedure whenever a water line loses its normal pressure.
As we head into 2026, we want to give a big thanks to our community for your continued support and partnership. We’re proud to serve all of you you and we look forward to another year of working together to keep Sumner safe.
Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and happy New Year!
