Daffodil Parade + Food Trucks & SMSA Beer Garden - April 6

Please enjoy the Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Parade in Sumner! We may be biased, but we believe there’s no better place to enjoy this than on Sumner’s Main Street. Here are a few tips to help you prepare:

  • The parade runs rain or shine. Dress appropriately.
  • People start sitting along Main Street early. Consider gathering a group, sitting in “your place” and taking turns enjoying the shops along Main Street while waiting for the parade to begin. You can get pizza, coffee, crepes, sandwiches and more in our local restaurants. or ate one of the 10 Food Trucks that will be featured along the parade route
  • Expect traffic. Whether or not you’re coming for the parade, this will impact your routes through Sumner. Please use the map below to guide you,.

The Parade will go down Main Street from Kincaid Avenue to just past Lewis Avenue. Main will be closed from Fryar Avenue to Valley Avenue. Also closed for Parade preparation will be Cherry Avenue and Kincaid Avenue north from Park Street; Alder Avenue, Sumner Avenue and Wood Avenue from North Street to Maple Street; Meade Avenue north of Maple Street; Meade Avenue, Bonney Avenue and Lewis Avenue north of Academy Street. Parking is available in downtown lots and along streets.

Music Off Main (Heritage Park) - July 12 with Victims of Love

While the Eagles may have the record for the #1 (Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1975) and #3 (Eagles Hotel California 1976) selling albums of all-time (Yes, in 2018 the RIAA officially crowned Eagles Greatest Hits Volume 1 as officially outselling Michael Jackson’s Thriller),  hundreds of millions of people have never seen them play live.  A big reason for that is that they quit touring for almost 14-years due to intrinsic personality conflicts and off-stage cohesiveness between within the band.

Victims of Love – A Tribute to the Eagles,  is comprised of 5 Seattle-area music veterans who formed a project to give anyone within earshot the opportunity to hear those Eagles songs they love played live.

Did you know that Don Felder recorded 16 different guitar tracks on Hotel California with 7 playing at the same time at one point in the song?  It’s amazing to see how the band performed that one live with just three guitar players.

Come out and catch a Victims of Love show…we’ll show you how the Eagles performed that one live…along with dozens of others!

Music Off Main (Heritage Park) – July 26 with James Coates
Jul 26 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Crafting small-town songs with big-city sounds, James Coates has spent 15 years connecting with audiences across the Pacific Northwest and around the country. Backed by a group of friends old and new, James Coates & His Band perform a signature blend of genres they affectionally refer to as “Funky Country & Americana Soul.”

The sonic tapestry presented to audiences includes air-tight drums, thumpy bass, gritty electric guitar, playful keyboards, a 2-piece horn section, melodic harmonies and James’s soulful, raspy vocals. Coates inspires with beautifully-crafted original songs and entertains with unexpected covers, creating an experience that pleases both the heart and the ears.
