Candidate interviews are on February 23, with the appointment vote on March 2, and swearing-in tentatively on March 16.

Eligibility requires living within Sumner’s city limits for at least one year and being a registered voter. The position offers a bi-weekly salary of $645, with no benefits, and requires 18-20 hours per month for meetings and community activities. All applications will become public records, and the two-year term will expire at certification of the 2027 general election.
