*PET OF THE WEEK – AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION*
If you are wanting an affectionate dog with a very unique look, then you should definitely come meet me. My name is Theena, and while you might not be able to tell from my photos, I am a tall dog which gives me a very striking look!
I came into the shelter with my “brother from another mother” Thor and my “sister from another mister” Maggie back in August when our owner could not take care of us any longer. They have both found their new forever homes, and now it’s my turn! And since I came from a home with several dogs, I am very well socialized around other dogs. I am great on a leash, very affectionate and gentle towards people, and very curious about the world around me.
The shelter staff think that I am approximately 3 years old, and a mix of Doberman and German Shepherd. I am very healthy, already spayed, and when you adopt me it will include a microchip and a pet license. So I’m pretty much a perfect pup!
When you come to see me at the shelter, you might notice that I’m really excited when I’m in my kennel — I promise, it’s just from all the noise in the shelter. I’m totally relaxed when the volunteers take me out to play and especially when we go on walks to the park. I am very affectionate and will snuggle right up against your leg and lay my head on your shoulder as my way of giving you a doggy hug.
You can come visit Theena at the Metro Animal Shelter in Puyallup from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, or on Tuesday and Wednesday. She is a great dog and will make some lucky family very happy!

**UPDATE 9/15/2025 @ 3:45 pm – CROSSING IS STILL CLOSED FOR REPAIRS TO CROSSING ARM**
Due to a train versus vehicle accident, the railroad crossing at Maple Street from Traffic Ave will be closed in both directions until further notice. We are estimating a closure of several hours today, and perhaps longer due to damage to the crossing arm. We will provide updates as they come available.

Are you looking for a big sweet dog to keep watch over your farm? Then I’m the perfect dog for you!
My name is Ceyda, and I came into the shelter as a stray earlier this month, after being found wandering near the industrial area of Sumner. My owners have not been located, and the nice people at the shelter have said that I’m ready to find an amazing new family.
I love to be outside and to lay in the sun, and the staff here at the shelter describe me as “sweet with people” and “submissive”. I am an Anatolian Shepherd – that means I’m a really big dog that has been bred to watch of livestock/flocks. Anatolian Shepherds are known for being very loyal and intelligent, and I agree!
As a dog that loves being outside and room to roam, I would do best in a home that has a really big yard or lots of property. I don’t know how to use a leash yet and with my herding nature, I am very sad to be in a kennel at the shelter. My friends here are really hoping that I find a new family fast — could that be you?
Come meet Ceyda and our other furry friends at the Metro Animal Shelter in Puyallup. We are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip, and license, and we strive to have some of the lowest adoption fees in the region.

Today, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We honor the lives lost, the courage of first responders, and the strength of our nation in the face of adversity. May we never forget the importance of unity, resilience, and compassion for one another.

It was a pleasure spending time with the athletes from Sound Athletics and friends from L’Arche Tacoma Hope over coffee and conversation. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, and we value the meaningful relationships we continue to build within our community.
