Wishing you and your loved ones a holiday filled with peace, joy, and togetherness. These past few weeks haven’t been easy, with the loss of WSP Trooper Guting as well as flooding, wind, and other severe weather impacting our area. Through it all, we’ve loved seeing everyone come together and look out for one another. We are honored to serve this community—today and every day—and hope you all have a safe and wonderful holiday.
Good news! The Stewart Road Bridge is now open!. While the White River still runs high, it has lowered enough to get the bridge and route back open. Thank you all for your patience during the closure!
Yesterday, our law enforcement family suffered a profound loss. Washington State Patrol Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting was killed in the line of duty while serving the community. Our hearts are broken for her family, friends, and fellow troopers.
From all of us at Sumner PD, please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. We honor Trooper Guting’s service and sacrifice. We stand beside you during this time of mourning.
