Can you help us make an amazing Christmas wish come true?!? We have just three days – today, tomorrow, and Tuesday – to find loving homes for these 5 dogs in time for Christmas! And if that happens, every single one of our adoption kennels would be empty on Christmas Eve.
These dogs came into our shelter for a variety of reasons — and none of those reasons were because they were on the naughty list. Owner lost their housing, owner with medical issues, owner with allergies, owner passed away… this is the sad reality that these dogs are dealing with. But here is the good news – these are all nice list pups! They are all healthy and highly adoptable, and just need the right person to give them the gift of love.
Our shelter is open Friday 12/19, Saturday 12/20, and Tuesday 12/23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you are interested in meeting any of these dogs, please send us a private message and be sure to visit our website to learn more about them: https://metroanimalservices.org/search-pets/

Even through a wild week, we proudly joined our community partners to deliver over 500 toys and meals to local families who wouldn’t have received their holiday wishes otherwise! Thank you to all our partners, donors and volunteers who helped make 2025 Toybox another success.

Good morning Sumner. Here is today’s flood update:
We continue to assist our neighboring City of Pacific as we can. Thank you to our Stewart Road Bridge contractor, Ceccanti, who built a channel yesterday through our construction site to help the flooded river water in Pacific rejoin the river as quickly as possible and drain from flooded roads.
We had the Army Corps of Engineers and a Hesco company official walk not only our new wall but also the Hescos put in place in Sumner a few years ago to check how they’re doing and holding up. So far, so good, but we’ll continue to monitor and assess.
Like everyone, we saw a few power outages and trees down throughout the city last night, but thankfully, nothing major. While snow in the mountains and decreasing rain amounts are all good news, we know that Mud Mountain Dam has stored a lot of water and will need to keep releasing higher than normal flows for a quite a while, even after the weather itself calms down.
To our knowledge, no one in the City of Sumner was displaced by flooding; however, we know that neighbors near the city continue to experience impacts. Below is a partial list of resources for displaced or those who want to volunteer with groups:
