City of Sumner seniors age 60 and older (or 55+ for American Indian/Alaska Native) who meet income guidelines can apply beginning May 1 for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program to receive an $80 electronic card for fresh fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs from local farmers. Applications are accepted through September 30 on a first-come, first-served basis, and benefits run June 1 through October 31 (last year’s cards have expired, so a new application is required). To apply, visit PierceCountyWA.gov/farmersmarket, call the Aging & Disability Resource Center at 253-798-4600 to request a paper form, or email seniorfarmersmarket@piercecountywa.gov. You can also download the Farmers Market App to shop and track your balance.
