Because wipes don’t break down like toilet paper, they can:
- Clog the homeowner’s pipes and municipal sewer lines
- Cause sewer backups and expensive plumbing bills for homeowners and business owners
- Lead to increased fees from your wastewater provider
How You Can Help
Put these items in the trash — not the toilet:
- “Flushable” wipes
- Cosmetic and personal wipes
- Toilet bowl scrub pads
- Disinfectant wipes
- Housecleaning wipes
- Baby wipes and diapers
- Paper towels, tissues, and napkins
Although many brands of disposable wipes are labeled “flushable,” they don’t actually break down like toilet paper. When flushed, they can block pipes, damage pumps, and cause messy and costly backups.
Do your part — keep wipes out of the pipes!
