The current RV dump station located at the end of State Street will close permanently on April 30. We were happy to offer this service to our residents for a number of years; however, a few problems make this service no longer viable to provide: – Businesses in the area, such as Mobile Service Vendors, routinely use this station to dispose of large quantities of commercial wastewater. – The station does not meet State and Federal design and treatment standards for a wastewater receiving station. – The dump station puts our adjacent Wastewater Treatment Facility, treatment process, equipment, and staff at risk. – High traffic volumes to access the station negatively impact residents on State Street. The costs to get the station in compliance with State and Federal regulations would be at least $1 million for Sumner utility ratepayers. We explored options to make people register or pay to better control what’s being dumped, but those were even more costly to manage. If you used the service, please find alternate options. |
