Notice is hereby given that the City of Sumner COUNCIL WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING on Ordinance No. 2906 a periodic update to the Sumner Comprehensive Plan, related Plans, and citywide zoning regulations as described below.
Written comments are due November 27, 2024, by 5:00 pm to ryanw@sumnerwa.gov or comment at the public hearing. The public has the right to review the contents of the official file for the proposal, provide written comments, participate in the public hearings/meetings, and request a copy of the final decision.
Proposal Name: Ordinance No. 2906- 2024 Sumner Comprehensive Plan Amendments
Proposal Description: The City of Sumner is updating its Comprehensive Plan to meet the requirements of the Washington State Growth Management Act and other regional policies. As part of this update, the City will amend its Plan elements, Transportation Management Plan, Capital Facilities Plan, and necessary implementing development regulations. Updates will include policy, text and regulations updates related to:
• Values and Vision
• Governance
• Community Character
• Family & Human Services
• Economic Development
• Land Use – Including policies to allow more housing density and more housing types
• Essential Public Facilities policies
• Historic & Cultural Resources – Including updates to permit requirements on sites with historic structures
• Environment – Including updates to critical areas regulations, exemptions, and increased stream buffers
• Housing – Including increases in densities in residential zones to reflect State directives for housing, updates to Multifamily Tax Exemption program, updated requirements for ADUs, potential displacement provisions
• Transportation – Including potential increase in Traffic Impact Fees
• Capital Facilities.
