Yesterday we had the privilege of meeting David Nicholson, a champion powerlifter who has earned top awards at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin.

Beyond his incredible athletic achievements, David’s greatest passion is policing. He volunteers with the tactical and canine teams, works at a police museum, and supports the Police Foundation back home in Calgary, Alberta.

David loves connecting with law enforcement, and we were so grateful he made time to visit us here in Sumner. Thank you, David, for inspiring us with your dedication and enthusiasm!

*PET(s) OF THE WEEK - AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION*

Did you hear about the four little dogs that were seen running around the Puyallup fairgrounds parking lot?!?! Well that was us!

Our names are Lyric and Treble, and we were found in the Gold Gate parking lot earlier this month, after somebody dumped us there along with our buddies Jazz and Harmony. Thankfully, a super nice lady from a rescue organization and two amazing animal control officers wrangled us out of the sticker bushes and into safety at the shelter.

Since then, we have had our shots, got cleaned up, and have been neutered – so now we are ready to go! Jazz and Harmony already found their forever homes, and we are hoping to find ours too. While we came to the shelter as a group, we would be happiest if adopted as individuals… we like people and we like other dogs… just not each other.

We will be available for adoption at the Metro Animal Shelter in Puyallup starting tomorrow at 11 a.m. Small dogs go fast, so don’t wait if you are interested in adopting either of us! The shelter is located at short distance from the South Hill Mall, and open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays until 3:00 p.m. Adoptions must be started by 2:30 p.m. to ensure time to complete the forms and release process.
