Are you looking for a big sweet dog to keep watch over your farm? Then I'm the perfect dog for you!

My name is Ceyda, and I came into the shelter as a stray earlier this month, after being found wandering near the industrial area of Sumner. My owners have not been located, and the nice people at the shelter have said that I'm ready to find an amazing new family.

I love to be outside and to lay in the sun, and the staff here at the shelter describe me as "sweet with people" and "submissive". I am an Anatolian Shepherd - that means I'm a really big dog that has been bred to watch of livestock/flocks. Anatolian Shepherds are known for being very loyal and intelligent, and I agree!

As a dog that loves being outside and room to roam, I would do best in a home that has a really big yard or lots of property. I don't know how to use a leash yet and with my herding nature, I am very sad to be in a kennel at the shelter. My friends here are really hoping that I find a new family fast -- could that be you?

Come meet Ceyda and our other furry friends at the Metro Animal Shelter in Puyallup. We are open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All adoptions include spay/neuter, microchip, and license, and we strive to have some of the lowest adoption fees in the region.

Today, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We honor the lives lost, the courage of first responders, and the strength of our nation in the face of adversity. May we never forget the importance of unity, resilience, and compassion for one another.

It was a pleasure spending time with the athletes from Sound Athletics and friends from L’Arche Tacoma Hope over coffee and conversation. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, and we value the meaningful relationships we continue to build within our community.

This week is National Suicide Prevention Week. If you need to talk, the 988 Lifeline is always available to help manage life’s challenges.

Sumner PD Officers have been trained in crisis intervention and how to pay attention for signs of suicide risk so they can offer resources and support. We are also proud to be a part of the East Pierce County Law Enforcement Peer Support Team so that we can support our fellow officers when they are struggling, because we know that healthy officers provide more compassionate care to the public.

For more information about what you can do to prevent suicide in our community, visit the Washington State Department of Health suicide prevention website:

My name is Jack, and the shelter staff think I am one of the cutest and best puppies they have seen in a long time! I came to the shelter as a very shy puppy back in July, and a super nice police officer from Puyallup has been fostering me since then. I have learned how to be a very good boy, and now I am ready to be adopted by my forever family.

Please note that I am a dog with special needs, because I was born completely deaf. There are lots of things that I can do and I’m very well behaved, but I might need a little extra care whenever I leave the yard or I’m off my leash because I can’t hear you calling my name. I would do best in a house with a fenced in yard, so I can safely play outside even if I can’t hear you

I am very sweet, very snuggly, and very friendly. Come visit me at the shelter in Puyallup on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- I promise I will melt your heart!
